International Day of Radiology 2019, Nov. 8, to focus on sports imaging

More than 160 radiology-related professional societies from around the world will participate in the 8th International Day of Radiology (IDoR), whose central theme is sports imaging this year.

The organisers (the European Society of Radiology – ESR, along with its American counterparts the Radiological Society of North America and the American College of Radiology) aim at building greater awareness of the value that radiology contributes to safe patient care and improving understanding of the vital role radiologists and radiographers play in the healthcare continuum.

Interviews with 40 experts in musculoskeletal radiology and sports imaging, dealing with topics within those fields and the state of radiological practice in various countries, have been published to highlight this year’s theme. In addition, the ESR has launched a Sports Imaging microsite which uses examples of top global athletes to show the general public how radiology is used in the diagnosis and management of sports injuries.

The IDoR 2019 poster is this year available in more than 30 languages and can be downloaded here.

To keep up to date with the latest announcements about the International Day of Radiology, please visit the IDoR Facebook page or the IDoR website including a number of videos that have been produced.

In the run-up to the celebrations, a WHO-ISR webinar on sports imaging will be held in Spanish on November 6.
