WHA2014 statements

The World Health Assembly (WHA) is the decision-making body of the World Health Organization and is attended by all WHO Member States in Geneva each year.  The 67th WHA was held on May 19-24, 2014.  The International Society of Radiology was invited to participate as a NGO in official relations.  The ISR delegates were Dr. J. Labuscagne President ISR, Dr. L. Lau Chairman ICRQS, and Ms. M. Hierath ISR Manager Europe.  During the WHA week, ISR delegates attended WHA sessions, participated in meetings with various WHO Departments and presented two statements.

Statement 14.6
“. . . . The ISR urges the WHA to adopt a resolution to reinstate a coordinating radiologist position and initiate program funding to enable increased access to safe and appropriate basic radiology to improve health and health equity . . . .”

Statement 15.7
“. . . . The ISR urges the WHA to adopt a resolution to improve universal health coverage through the strengthening of access to basic radiology by prioritizing education and training of health professionals and applying affordable, sustainable and innovative technologies . . . . “
