The International Society of Radiology (ISR) and the World Federation of Nuclear Medicine and Biology (WFNMB) have formalized their partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed in Vienna by Professor Boris Brkljačić, President-Elect of ISR, and Professor Savvas Frangos, President of WFNMB.
The two organizations are important partners in international affairs, particularly in engagement with the World Health Organization (WHO). Their collaboration includes advocacy for World Health Assembly resolutions addressing critical global health priorities:
- WHA78: Strengthening Medical Imaging Capacity
- WHA79: Strengthening Equitable Access to Diagnostic Imaging Through Teleradiology
- WHA79: Radiation and Health: Strengthening Global Protection, Preparedness and Response
The agreement reinforces the shared commitment of ISR and WFNMB to advancing equitable access to medical imaging, strengthening global health systems, and supporting international collaboration on diagnostic imaging and radiation protection.
By formalizing this partnership, both organizations strengthen their collective voice in global health advocacy and their ability to work together toward meaningful improvements in imaging access, quality, and safety worldwide.
